Fahsai, 8

Fahsai came to us with her older brother Gauv about 9 months after we moved to Thailand. She was a very angry little 3 year old. She is now 7 and has so much personality and the biggest laugh that makes it hard not to smile when you hear it.

August 2025 Update

Fahsai is almost 8 1/2 now! Over the past 10 months she has grown—in confidence, learning, and joy. While she says school is not her favorite thing, she does well and enjoys (her favorite subject) the most.

Beyond the classroom, Fahsai can often be found playing outside. She is never afraid to get a little dirty and loves using her imagination to create things out of the mud during rainy season. She also enjoys cuddling any one of the many cats that roam our property. Most importantly, Fahsai has continued learning more about God’s love and continues to grow in her understanding through reading her Bible and worship times.

In fact, around this time last year, we were working with Fahsai to help her understand that she can’t take things that aren’t hers. At first, we were met with some resistance and bitterness, but over time we’ve seen her grasp the concept and grow more confident in doing what’s right.

As we reflect on these past 10 months, we celebrate all that God is doing in Fahsai’s life and look forward with hope to the ways she will continue to grow in the year ahead. Thank you for walking this journey with her—your support is truly making a difference.

Her Story

Each child's story is their own to tell so we share only the parts that are appropriate. In time, we believe the testimony that God is giving them is something they'll share to help and encourage others. Until that time, we will share those things which aren't too deeply personal but will still give you insight into the hearts and minds of these young people God has sent to us.

October 2024 Update

When Fahsai first came, I (Abi) don't think she had ever heard the word no. If she was ever denied what she wanted, she would resort to screaming and flailing herself all over the place. She has grown a lot since then and I think she understands now that the word "no" isn't so bad, after all. She's always looking for ways to be helpful and kittens she can squeeze. Although she loves to play with the other kids, you will also often find her off playing by herself.

She's a very good student, rarely having to be reminded to do her homework. She understands almost everything we say to her in English, but often chooses to reply back in Thai. I'll sometimes go teach English to her class and she loves to play the role of translator when I'm trying to teach the class a new game.

We have a score system set in place for keeping their rooms clean, which helps to give the kids a little bit of motivation to actually clean their rooms. Fahsai shares a room with the 4 oldest girls, and her and Alu are the main reason they have such good scores at the end of each week.

She also started playing recorder a while ago, but after a couple weeks of learning she realized that recorder just wasn't her thing and promptly turned it back in.
